Morning…
I think we all know who Barry Manilow is. He has been around the music scene for many many years. He had hit songs in the 70’s, 80’s and beyond. He is still touring I do believe.
I saw him in concert back in 1978 after I graduated high school. I had a couple of his albums. The concert was very good. That was when I found out his secret - he did a special medley of songs. I have a few of those here for you today. I am sure most of you know them!!
State Farm Insurance:
State Farm Insurance (Like A Good Neighbor)
Written by Barry Manilow, Jerry Gavin and Keith Reinhard
"You don't get residuals if you write it, so they just buy you out. At that point, $500 meant a lot of money — I was grateful to have it," he said.
Band-Aid Brand:
Stuck On Me (Band-Aid Brand)
Written by Barry Manilow (music) and Donald B. Wood (lyrics)
"They wanted it simple, catchy and something that could be played on like a banjo or something," he said. "It was easy, it was one pass…I wrote it in one pass."
Stridex:

Green Bowlene:
Bathroom Bowl Blues (Green Bowlene)
Written by Barry Manilow and Lois Wise
Pepsi:
Long before casting Kendall Jenner, Pepsi used this catchy tune from Manilow to encourage the "Pepsi generation" to feel free.
KFC:
In the '80s, Manilow wrote one finger-lickin' good jingle for the fast food chain.
McDonald’s:
"That was the granddaddy of all of them, the first big one," Manilow told WCL — adding that he had only ever eaten at McDonald's once.
The "I Write the Songs" singer did not write the "You Deserve a Break" jingle for the fast food company, but he did sing the tune, which he often still does during live shows.
There you go. Barry has been a part of our lives in many ways. He knows how to write a song!!
Yes he is still touring. Click below to go to his web site.
